Setex’s patented high grip material is inspired by the microscopic hairs, called setae, on a gecko’s foot. Since our beginnings in a Carnegie Mellon University lab more than a decade ago, we’ve been committed to taking what we know about the gecko’s amazingly strong grip to engineer the best gripping surfaces possible. Each Setex product has thousands of microstructures on the surface that prevent items from slipping, so you can stay in control even in wet and oily conditions. We developed these pads to add grip to household objects, whether to help someone with limited dexterity get through everyday tasks, or a competitive gamer increase their actions per minute. They are not your usual grip pad – not only did we engineer a gecko-like microstructured surface (Seriously! Look at them under a magnifying glass!), we mold them out of a super soft material that is very comfortable to hold. You’ve never felt anything quite like this! Some of our favorite applications are on the backs of our cell phones, on our computer mouse, under our laptops, mouse pads, and keyboards, on our nail clippers, our pens, and even most of our lab tools (really great for the exacto knives and under cutting mats and rulers). Due to the soft nature of the grip pads, depending on the application they will need to be replaced at some frequency. For more stationary objects, the pads will last a long time. However, for frequently handled objects like cell phones, we find that the pads need to be replaced every month or so. But you’ll find that even small areas of the material go a long way, and we include many pieces in our kits so you can have more ready to go.
